From this apartment, the best shopping areas in Berlin are easily accessible either on foot or in just a few minutes by S-Bahn without the need for a car.
The shopping areas of East Berlin (Friedrichstraße-Hackescher Markt-Alexanderplatz) and West Berlin (Kurfürstendamm-Tauentzienstraße) are both less than 10 minutes away by S-Bahn. To the South you will find the shopping area of Potsdamer Platz-Leipziger Platz. To the North a new mall is very close by on Turmstrasse called Schultheiss Quartier. Additionally, the Hauptbahnhof station is very very close by and offers a shopping center and gastronomic options.
From the apartment, you can enjoy a pleasant walk to the shopping center at the main station of Berlin, HAUPTBAHNHOF. We recommend following the path along the river to the east, which may not be the shortest, but is beautiful. In less than 20 minutes, you will arrive and can easily return with your purchases by taking a 2.5-minute ride on the S-Bahn to Bellevue, the next stop.
NORTH. In August 2018, an urban, multifunctional center for fashion, trade, and gastronomy was created in Berlin-Mitte on the former site of the Schultheiss Brauerei (Turmstraße 25, 10559 Berlin): the Schultheiss Quartier. From your apartment, you can walk to this shopping center, for example, along the river to the west and then cross the small park to the north. Alternatively, you can take the M10 tram and arrive in just a few minutes.
SOUTH. Here, we not only have one shopping center, but two: the ‘Mall of Berlin‘ in Leipziger Platz with over 300 stores, and ‘The Playce‘ with over 90 stores, as well as many other stores located in the area (such as UNIQLO, Sony Store, LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, etc).
To get to the Potsdamer Platz area from the apartment, you can go to the Hauptbahnhof and cross the park through the tunnel on one of the many trains that pass by. This takes around 15 minutes. Alternatively, if you have some free time and would like to take a walk, you can cross the Tiergarten park diagonally through the Bellevue Allee that runs from the Bellevue Palace directly to Potsdamer Platz. By bike, it takes less than 10 minutes.
WEST. The best known shopping street in Berlin, Kurfürstendamm, and the side streets are home to multiple department stores and shops for major chains, including international fashion designers such as Armani, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, etc. Behind Breitscheidplatz is the Bikini Berlin, a stylish shopping center that combines trendy shops and temporary pop-up stores.
If you stroll in the other direction along Tauentzienstraße, you’ll first come to the Europa-Center, the first shopping mall built in Berlin, and then to Berlin’s largest department store, KaDeWe. The entire area is filled with dozens of well-known stores and chains.
EAST. As you travel east on the S-Bahn from Bellevue, you’ll find a wealth of shopping opportunities at every stop. At Friedrichstraße, you’ll discover exclusive shopping galleries like Quartier 206 and Galeries Lafayette, along with major fashion brands, car dealerships, and much more.
Just one stop further, Hackescher Markt is a lively hub filled with unique shops, restaurants, and a distinctive atmosphere. And at Alexanderplatz, you’ll find a large mall along with several stores from major international chains.
